At edge2 we thrive on driving individuals and teams to confront what is obstructing higher performance, then push against these obstacles…and break through. That is where individuals find their personal edge, the edge that delivers outstanding business results and tremendous personal satisfaction.

Many people are not performing in business to their full potential. In fact, we often see businesses, teams and individuals settling for less. Less than aim to achieve and less than they are capable of achieving.

We call this a ‘poverty of ambition’. This poverty of ambition is getting in the way of business and personal success. Yet it can be shifted and we know how. It’s thrilling and humbling to see people outperform their own expectations and achieve outstanding results and to know you have played a small part in their success.

Who We Are

Two people who are genuinely thrilled to see people make progress and for businesses to succeed.

Lead Partners, Mark and Alasdair have between them over 50 years corporate experience. They have worked in Big Corporate as well as start-ups and SME’s. Both have extensive international experience including UK, Germany, UAE, Qatar, India and Australia. They have been fortunate to have worked in businesses that create and nurture enduring success. They’ve also experienced working within challenging environments and have first hand experience of how businesses get stuck and how to get back to success.

Mark Garrod

Mark combines 17 years in corporate business with 9 years experience as a Performance Coach and Consultant bringing ideas, tools and skills to life for clients in practical ways that deliver results.

Mark has delivered capability development programs to managers and executives ranging from leadership to mental toughness and managing change to unconscious bias. Mark also has expertise across Sales; from Sales Strategy and Leadership to Strategic Account Management and Selling Skills.

Prior to establishing edge2, Mark was a full time Senior Consultant with rogenSi.

He has worked with or within organizations including; in Finance: Barclays, ING Direct, MasterCard, T Rowe Price, XL Catlin, HSBC and Paypal; as well as Leo Burnett Global Advertising, BP Oil, Emirates Airline, IBM, HP, Syngenta Accenture Global Consulting and Heidelberg Concrete.

Having worked with European, Australasian, Middle Eastern, and Asian audiences Mark is well versed at handling the cultural nuances of facilitation and coaching in various countries and markets.

He has two world class coaching qualifications, has delivered over 1000 hours of coaching and is globally accredited.

Mark is also certified with Zenger Folkman Extraordinary Leader, Hogan Assessment Systems, TEIQue emotional intelligence psychometric assessment tool and DiSC.

Steadfast in his belief in the vastness of human potential, Mark continuously pushes himself and his clients to expand and strengthen the mental, skill, process and knowledge based dimensions of performance in pursuit of exceptional results in business, and in life.

Alasdair Howieson

Looking beyond the obvious and digging deeper to understand clients DNA, drivers and culture has been a key pillar of Alasdair’s career success.

As a business leader as well as consulting on marketing and sales strategies to a broad range of business for 10 years Alasdair has developed a strong understanding of how successful businesses operate especially the connection between strategy, culture and performance. Alasdair has transferred this expertise into Capability Development as a full time facilitator, speaker and coach.

Some of the clients Alasdair has worked and consulted with include: Finance & Professional Services (UBS, AMEX, Generali, FIS, Oliver Wyman, Deutsche Bank), Automotive (BMW, Rolls Royce, Mini), FMCG (Unilever, Coca-Cola, J&J), Technology (Schneider, Dolby, Ericsson, AOL) and Transport (Lufthansa, Maersk).

Alasdair specialises in leadership and team development with a strong focus on innovation, culture and performance enablement as well as key account management and client focused sales.

He is a lecturer on business studies and marketing at academies and colleges in Germany and the Middle East. In addition he is also a keynote speaker on topics such as international marketing, power of brand, design thinking for innovation and gamification for business.

Alasdair is completing his EMCC qualification as an Executive Coach Practitioner. He is also a certified MindGym Master Coach . He has recently also completed courses on: Gamficiation – University of Pennsylvania, Design Thinking for Business Innovation – University of Virginia, Inspiring Leadership with emotional Intelligence – University, Ohio.

Lukas Von Hörde

Curious, Open, Empathic, Pragmatic and with a good dash of Humor Lukas works with his clients to Empower Leaders, Unite Teams and Make the Sale.

In his engagements, Lukas draws from 15 years of experience in the international energy and engineering business in a variety of leadership and sales positions in addition to 10 years as Leadership Coach and Sales Consultant across the world.

In order to pursue his passion for people, Lukas left the power industry as Head of Sales for the Middle East leading an international team and achieving annual turnovers of up to 1 billion EUR.

Courageous, determined but also with ease and humor, Lukas creates an atmosphere of trust and safety with his clients, in order to take inventory with all parties involved including individual objectives and needs, before determining and agreeing with everybody involved, the actions that need to be taken to optimize both team and results. The egos of the individuals always subordinate to the result.

In custom designed workshops, always open, poignant and humorous, Lukas had the privilege among others to work for BASF, Siemens, PwC, Deutsche Bank, Sage, EY, Knorr Bremse, Mannheim Business School and many more.

Lukas is a Mechanical Engineer (Dipl. Ing. FH), a Six Sigma Black Belt and MBA.
He is qualified professional coach (PCC acc. ICF), a trained, experienced systemic coach and is qualified in numerous diagnostic and psychometric assessment tools.
